Project Resilience Check-In Activity

Resilience Self-Care Package

You might have heard of someone sending a care package to a family member that is away from home (e.g. military, college). Care packages are often packed with essential supplies and items that will provide the recipient comfort. Today, you are going to create a self-care package for yourself that is filled with symbols of the resilience skills you learned about in Project Resilience.

Materials:

  • An empty box or bag

  • Household items

  • Piece of paper, or notecard, or Post-it (any paper will do)

Directions:

  1. Answer the 6 questions listed in the Self-Care Package Brainstorm (see below).

  2. Collect the household items and your notes or drawings and place in an empty box or bag. Be sure to ask a parent or guardian, if it’s okay for you to include this household item in your self-care package.

  3.  Optional: Write a care package note to yourself. This note usually includes a message of gratitude from the sender of the package. You can start your note with “I’m grateful for how I [list or draw things you are doing to take care of yourself]”
