Help Build Thriving School Communities
"[My counselor] has kept my head above water more times than I can [count]. Oftentimes, she has been the only source of support to help me navigate a very difficult teaching assignment while also managing very difficult personal circumstances." - Middle School Teacher
Can you remember a time when you felt completely overwhelmed or were drowning in self-doubt? Was there someone you could talk to about your struggles, who understood what you were going through? Or did you feel isolated and alone? We have all experienced stressful, emotionally challenging times in our lives. Teachers must deal with personal and professional difficulties as we all do, but they must do this while also nurturing the growing minds of a classroom of young people who depend on them. Students turn to their teachers for guidance and encouragement, but who can our teachers turn to when they themselves need support?
At the 27 San Mateo and Santa Clara County K-8 schools Acknowledge Alliance serves, educators know they can turn to us. Our highly trained mental health professionals help guide educators as they navigate challenges in the classroom and beyond. They provide a reassuring on-campus presence, bolstering the social-emotional wellbeing of entire school ecosystems - from teachers to students, principals, administrators, and family members. As one teacher put it, “[my resilience consultant] has helped me balance work and personal life. She's given me helpful tips and strategies on how to set boundaries, work through crises, and manage stress and anxiety. She's always positive and finds ways to connect and bring our school together even when some days feel hopeless.”
With 1 in 5 California teachers saying they will likely leave the profession in the next three years, and 57% citing burnout from stress as the cause, the support of our resilience counselors is vital (Hart Research Associates, 2022). This past year, Acknowledge Alliance served more educators than ever before - we held 3,350 one-on-one tailored consultations, a remarkable 300% increase in just three years. With your support, we are providing a direct solution to the teacher turnover crisis and positively impacting educators’ lives. As one elementary school teacher shared, “[my counselor's] presence has made a huge difference at [our school]. We are all happier with her around, she connects us and helps us to feel validated and heard. She encourages the best.”
For over 30 years, we have remained committed to the belief that it only takes one teacher or caring adult to change a student’s life for the better. When educators are empowered to be their best selves, they are able to create safe, compassionate, and nurturing school environments where everyone can thrive. Today is your opportunity to tell our community’s educators you value and support them - ensure that Acknowledge Alliance can continue our critical work strengthening resilience, creating community, and building connection. Thank you for joining us in this work and transforming lives with us, one classroom at a time.
