Alicia recently graduated from NDNU with a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy and Art Therapy Psychology. This is her second year at Beechwood School in Menlo Park, where she provides counseling services as a registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (#119864), Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (#8016), and Provisional Art Therapist (#20-261) under supervision by Chris Chiochios, LMFT, ATR-BC. Her professional background includes 15 years in communication design, six years of volunteer work in various MVWSD and PAUSD elementary classrooms, and three years teaching printmaking workshops in a mixed K-5 classroom. From 2018-2019, Alicia led weekly art groups for women and children in transitional housing at LifeMoves, and was a team member for NDNU’s 2019 service trip to Costa Rica to provide support to Nicaraguan refugees. She is passionate about creating a sense of safety and containment to facilitate personal growth and transformation by using trauma-informed care as a foundation. She approaches her work from a strengths-based and non-pathologizing perspective using art therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, and body-based kinesthetic/sensory art making. She is additionally trained to provide trauma-informed yoga via the Veterans Yoga Project.
